(a) Explain what the term (DAB) means and state one advantage to the consumer of using DAB?

DAB is digital audio broadcasting devices that send compressed signals towards radios. This means that they can pick up more signals while taking up less space. Rather than analogue radios that take up more space when transmitted. So consumers can access a wider variety of radio stations and genres instead of just two. 

(b) Explain two reasons why listening to radio via apps is more popular than on a digital television?

The apps and online websites are more popular because the devices that they are on are more portable and easy to use. Due to things like 4g and free wifi people are able to stream music while outside of their house. Instead of DTV's which are big, harder to use and stuck inside of a house. 

on apps and websites you are able to listen to specific genres of music and you can pick and choice what you are wanting to listen to because of the amount of apps there are.

(a) What does the acronym BABR stand for and what does it do?

they research the demographic and viewership of different tv stations

(b)Explain three interpretations that can be made about the difference in audience demographic between viewers of itv1 and bbc2.

ITV1 has more female viewers as stereotypically women are more inclined to watch soap operas which ITV1 shows most often. 

More older men are inclined to watch BBC2 as they present snooker world championships and Army movies. Which are stereotypically watched by older men.  

more people in the A and B social grade are inclined to watch BBC2 as it takes more concentration and intelligence to watch snooker and educational movies. Rather than ITV1 which shows more content that is easy to watch and doesn't take as much concentration.

(a) Explain the benefit of an independent company doing a joint venture with other companies?

-increase marketing

-Independent companies may make joint ventures with other countries as it can increase the marketing of the product because the other company may have a bigger budget for that. An example of this would be the game Hitman 2 by Sumo Digital and Warner Bros Ent. this joint venture allowed the gas Hitman 2 to have a larger audience reach as Warner bros is a conglomerate company. 

(b) Explain two disadvantages of being an independent company?

A disadvantage of being an independent company would be that you don't have enough exposure as a company for your product to make commercial success. An example of this would be Sumo digital who began without the platform or ability to market their products. So they had to make joint ventures with other countries like Microsoft and Warner bros in order for their games to have a plat form to be marketed on.

Q5. Identify two post-production job roles and explain them using examples from what you have learnt?

-One post-production job role would be the film special effects team that use special effects to finish of scene, add to characters and even create whole scenes. For example in the film cats, that came out very recently, they used cgi in post production to make the fur suits the actors were wearing look more realistic and life like. 

-sound/audio editor makes the soundtrack fit the scene for a film. Star Wars has a soundtrack by John Williams that has been classed as amazing and one of the best soundtracks in film.
