Passive audience theory and moral panic theory lo6

Hypodermic syringe-implies that media has a negative impact on the mass media s they would believe anything (Adorno and Horkheimer 1947)

Vance Packard (1957) wrote a book called the hidden persuasion and explained how the mass media is easily persuaded into buying and consuming things that can seem negative to them.

Desensitisation is when you are used to doing this such as killing people in games as you have become adjusted to it.

This article relies on the idea of desensitisation as it uses a study by both Craig A. Anderson, Ph.D., and Karen E. Dill, Ph.D. This study took students from a college to report their behaviour and how aggressive they were. Through this they were able to find that out of 227 students those who played more video games throughout their younger years were more inclined to engage in more aggressive activities. This is why I believe that it relies on the idea of desensitisation as if you are showed this at a young age you will eventually be used to it. This does prove that playing violent video games of a young age can have a long lasting effect on you but it wont be anything serious.

Ideology is values and beliefs
